Not sure if any of you have seen this but some unknown guy won the South Carolina democrat senate nomination the other night. Its all kind of a crazy story Alvin Greene is a 32-year-old unemployed U.S. Army veteran that some how had $10,400 for the filing fee to get on the ballot. After paying the fee he fell off the radar and missed the state party’s convention, raised no money, and did no campaigning that Democratic leaders knew of. Then on Tuesday he won with 59 percent of the vote. The only other person running for the nomination was Vic Rawl a former South Carolina Judge and legislature who ran some ads and had raised over $200,000.

So now Greene is set to run against Republican Sen. Jim DeMint who has 3.4 million already raised for the campaign. Since no one was thinking this guy was going to win no one had any clue who he was and now it has come out that he has a felony pornography charge pending against him and it was a involuntary discharge from the Army.

Some democrats are saying that Greene could be a Republican plant. From what I have seen on this it sounds more like he just got super lucky with how the ballot and primary works in SC. He was listed before Vic Rawl and studies have shown that being first on the ballot will get a few more votes. Also the SC primary allows everyone to vote so the Republican and tea party movements could have thrown votes his way to make sure DeMint would win in the fall. I guess they are trying to get some investigation into this guy so its going to be interesting to see where this goes.

Here is a interview he just did...
Alvin Greene's Unlikely Senate Candidacy

Alvin Greene

I kind of feel for this guy, its nice to see a "normal" person take down a well know professional politician but then again he is way over his head.

So after all the democrats saying he was paid by the republicans or a plant the investigations show that he paid for and ran on his own.

Here is a video of his first speech from the other day...

1.  What guy today doesn't have a felony pornography charge (sheesh, tell me about it)

2.  This really just goes to show that 90% percent of Americans really don't put any logic or thought behind their votes.  This is what the founding fathers against; the unwashed masses fucking shit up with their mickey mouse bullshit votes.  I think voting should go back to the way it was intended; male landowners.  C'mon y'all let's put on our powdered wigs and pantaloons and legislate decisions about tobacco, molasses, and textile products.

I would just like to clarify that my stated philosophy above is on par, in scope, with the ridiculousness of the philosophy behind the tea party.

Well most of the Tea Party groups do support the repeal of the Seventeenth Amendment which established direct election of United States Senators by popular vote. Before 1913 Senators were elected by state legislatures. They want it changed back to the original way for a few reasons one it would limit the affect of special interests groups on senators, senators would not have the distraction of public campaigning for election, leaving them free to concentrate on the business of the federal government and it would be a re-assertion of states rights against Congress.

While that is true, you have to recognize that the effort of the Seventeenth Amendment was to put a damper on political machines.  By revoking it, you would be trading special interest groups and public campaigning for more back room dealing and a patronage system based on standing in line and being a team player.  Political standings based on a trumped up nostalgia of "things in the government were better back then" is bullshit.  The people proposing that line of reasoning weren't there to know, and they sure as shit hope the people they selling it to don't know their history.  Shit in the government has always been fucked up, and if anything it has only become more equal and less corrupt as the years pass.  I would rather have some guy getting campaign checks from the AARP, or what have you, then have my representative be some guy essentially be called up to the "majors" to play government for insert dominant state political party.

Secondly, the "re-asseration" of states rights argument is a clever way for bigots to talk about what they want, without really saying it.  States rights, in my opinion, essentially died with the losing party of that argument; that being the Confederacy in the Civil War.  The US hasn't been a coalition of anything resembling autonomous states since.  The central government holds all the power in this relationship, and for good reason.  While states have the right to purpose new policies, the central government has the right to come and slap that shit down.  This is to prevent things like not letting black people vote, keeping people from murdering homosexuals, ripping off Native Americans; essentially preventing states from infringing on the rights of minorities.

States can choose to adopt whatever legislative and fiscal policies they choose, so long as they are in accordance with the constitution and shit.  The "re-asseration" of state's rights is simply envoking the ability of states to have policies that are not in accordance with the central government's take on the constitution; you know, like the police being able to walk up to minorities and make them show their identification.

I don't agree with a repeal of the 17th amendment. I was just pointing out that a large group of people now days do support it. What I do support on the topic of Senators would be term limits and some reforms with gubernatorial appointments.

Until the 10th amendment is nullified States will still have legal rights against the federal government. If states did not have rights under the 10th amendment things like gay marriage and the medicinal use of marijuana would be banned in every state by the federal government.

Thank you, my fellow klansmen feel the same way.  That's why they elected me to sing the pledge of allegiance before every fag drag.

P.S. Seven- this reminds me, we have a meeting this Thursday night.  You are in charge of bringing a 30 pack of mountain dew and hate.
