Time Warner has just upped the speed of the top turbo tier from 10 Mbps and 1 Mbps to 15 Mbps and 1 Mbps. They also added Power Boost to the Standard 7.0 Mbps tier.

So now in dfw Time Warner offers;

Turbo 15.0 Mbps/1 Mbps with PowerBoost
Standard 7.0 Mbps/512 Kbps with PowerBoost
Basic 3.0 Mbps
Lite 1.5 Mbps

To get the new speeds I had to go to the modem config page and force reset the modem. For most modems this link will work; http://192.168.100.1/ and then go to the config page and click reset all defaults and it will re download the firmware which might take anywhere from 5-15 min.

This is what I have been getting since the update;

Still not as fast as fios but the same as u-verse for a little bit less, I was going to switch but now I will wait and see what they do.

What is power boost?  and who is Big Air?

Quote
PowerBoostâ„¢ is a change to the cable modem configuration file that allows customers a short burst of additional speed when the downstream bandwidth is available.

PowerBoost only works for the first few MB of data for a download and only works on html and ftp connections. It also only works when they have extra unused bandwith on your node, so during peak usage times you wont get the PowerBoost. That's why when I test my speed it shows 20 down when its only 15, that's the powerboost working during the speedtest.

WTF is a Big Air?

The new speeds that were leaked and then tested and then removed for about 2 months are now officially out today. The turbo speed tier is now 15.0 Mbps down and 2.0 Mbps up with powerboot giving a burst of download speed up to 30 Mbps. This is even better then what everyone was thinking was coming now that they raised the upload 1 Mbps more. All you need to do to get the new speeds if you have the turbo tier is to power cycle your modem and router. Looks like this has been rolled out to all of dfw, confirmed towns with it are Mckinney, Flower Mound, Arlington, North Dallas.
