Here is a Dallas Morning News article about the two perspectives of proposed legislation to eliminate the birthdate of government amployees from public record.  In a nutshell, the idea is that there is a risk for ID theft for government workers, so the state reps want to remove it from public record.  The opponents state that public record including the dob of government employees has been used as a method to double check the governments responcibilities as it relates to hiring persons of questionable backgrounds, with the dob removed there will be no media enabled watchdogging.

There is no record of ID theft for any government worker based soley on DOB.  The state has regularly sold the information of it's employees to private intrests, and would continue to do so even if the legislation is passed.

I want to know what your view points on this are.  and by your I mean any one reading this.
